Teaching Staff
We believe the best conceived plans need exceptional leaders to execute them. Our unique learning environment requires that teachers possess extensive knowledge in their subject area and excel in the use of contemporary teaching methods. It has taken over 20 years of traveling and teaching to summon together the finest teachers for our programs. Together, the Upper Grand District School Board with MEI, select staff based on their academic knowledge, travel experience, and most importantly their passion for teaching young adults.
As a testament to how the MEI experience impacts students, many of our alumni return as faculty members after completing their university degrees. They return, wanting to give back what they received as students. Students and parents will have an opportunity to meet the staff and teachers at a pre-departure meeting held before each trip begins.
Teaching with the Upper Grand District School Board
on an MEI program
Teachers have an opportunity to teach in a unique and interactive environment when teaching overseas. MEI programs are designed and operated by teachers with the intention of making this educational experience rejuvenating and energizing for teachers and students alike. At the present time there are two types of positions:
1) Master TeacherRequirements:
- Has taught on an international program
- Has a senior specialist qualification in the subject area
- Has travel experience in the location(s) where the course(s) will be conducted
- Outstanding references from past employers
- Participation in curriculum design with Upper Grand District School Board and MEI staff
- Class lectures, lessons and tutoring of students
- Chaperoning excursions with students
- Completion of report cards and anecdotal comments
- Liaison between hotel staff, the Upper Grand District School Board, and the MEI office
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher
- Has travel experience
- Has demonstrated an ability to nurture and inspire students
- Outstanding references from past employers
- Marking quizzes, tests, exams and essays
- Recording of students' marks
- Aiding in lectures
- Aiding students with studying, essay writing etc.
- Chaperoning excursions with students
- Completion of report cards and anecdotal comments
How to apply to teach on a summer or semester program
Step One:- Submit an online teacher application that will be received by the Upper Grand District School Board.
- Mail, email or fax your resume to MEI International Academy.
- RSVP to an information meeting (Please, check the box that you are a teacher).
- Please note: All teachers must attend an information meeting, as this will assist you in determining if MEI suits your style of teaching.
- Attend the information meeting. While there, please complete the teacher attendance form, introduce yourself to the presenters and let them know you have submitted your résumé.
- After you have attended the meeting you will be better informed to determine if MEI suits your style of teaching. If you would like to proceed with the application process please email us at world@meiacademy.com.
- Once we receive your email of continued interest, we will send you a confirmation email inviting you to attend an interview session. The location and time will be specified in our email. Please contact our office if you can't attend the interview session.
